Intensive In-community Services

Intensive In-Community Services are flexible in-home and in-community clinical and behavioral support for children and youth with behavioral and emotional difficulties.

Intensive In-Community Services are provided by our professional staff who follow the direction and needs of the family, the cultural values and norms of the family, and support the existing strengths of the family.

The goals of Intensive In-Community Services are to strengthen the family structure, provide stability and support for the family, and to encourage the family's utilization of resources within the community.

We provide an array of services delivered by a mobile team of professionals who work with the family in the home, community, or other setting desired by the family. Our Intensive In-Community staff are Licensed Clinicians with a minimum of a Master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or such related field.

How Do I Know If My Child May Need
Intensive In-Community Services?

Your child may display one or more of the following:

  • Sadness or anxiety
  • Problems eating or sleeping
  • Problems with peers
  • Running away or truancy
  • Use of alcohol or drugs
  • Aggressive behavior to self or others

Who Pays for Intensive In-Community Services?

Intensive In-Community Services are part of the mental health system of care for children in the state of New Jersey. This is overseen by New Jersey's Department of Children and Families, Division of Child Behavioral Health Services (DCBHS) system.

Any child in New Jersey ranging from age 5 through 17 may be eligible for services through the DCBHS, regardless of health insurance or financial status. Special consideration may be made for children ages 3 to 4; and ages 18 through 21.

An assessment is conducted within the child's home, community, or other convenient location. After the assessment is conducted, eligibility for services will be determined and communicated to the family. Services are then funded through New Jersey Medicaid.

Interventions May Include:

  • Individual and/or family therapy
  • Clinical consultation/evaluation
  • Child/youth behavioral management
  • Allied therapies: play, art, drama and/or music therapy
  • Anger management skills
  • Parenting skill development
  • Stress reduction
  • Problem solving
  • Improve coping skills
