Our Mission

The mission of the Mental Health Association of Essex County, Inc. is to promote Mental Health, to improve the care and treatment of individuals with Mental Illness and to remove the stigma associated with emotional and Mental Disorders. We, as a community organization, accomplish our mission through advocacy, education, prevention, early intervention, treatment and service.

The Vision for Mental Association of Essex County, Inc. is

  • To become highly visible and widely recognized throughout the County and surrounding areas as premier provider, independently or through partnerships, of a complete continuum of mental health services to adults, children, and families.
  • To continue to be the leading advocate for individuals with mental illness as well as for general mental health needs of community. MHAEC will be a leader in campaign to remove the stigma associated with emotional and mental disorders.
  • To continue to provide services in a fiscally sound manner and have a more diverse and stable source of funding.

In-Home Behavioral Health Therapy on Cutting Block

The Department of Children and Families is ending in-home therapy on March 30 for approximately 3,000 New Jersey children who have behavioral or mental health problems.  The move would save the state two million dollars. - By Dari Mandell (NJN News)
